Do you love the environment, nature, and heritage? Do you believe that all three are intrinsically linked? Do you want to encourage a sense of greater connection, identity, love, and care for nature, communities, and history through the power of art, telling stories, and community participation? Do you believe that now is the time for art to start properly excavating how we live in collaboration with the environment and wildlife?
We do and we are seeking a producer who does too for our ambitious audio community stories project set on the Bentham train line. You can read what it is all about on the pages of this website. Still, in short, in late 2025, we will be producing a mobile phone app for passengers on the Bentham train line which will ping audio stories onto their phones that are written by the communities they are traveling through. The stories will be about trees, buildings or environmental elements they can see out of the window or animals and birds and the train route's many winding rivers. The writing workshops will be professionally led by writers and guest facilitators. Local actors and the writers themselves will narrate and record their own stories complete with sound effects and music.
You don't have to have scientific knowledge of nature or the environment or be a historian—we are getting in professional guest facilitators for that—but a real care and passion for these things and a desire to learn more about them from our partner organizations are probably a must. As is a love for community arts and a strong belief that community arts can produce fantastic pieces of engaging art.
We want to produce a wonderful tapestry of sound and story on this app that aims to get folk looking out of the train window and engaging more with the places they are traveling through - and we want a brilliant producer to help us do that. If you think that this is you, please read the job spec and apply below...
