outside it is beautiful is committed to ensuring that all participants can engage with us in a safe environment. We are committed to ensuring every individual has their human rights fully respected.
Our work is about recognising the beauty and complexity of global communities and the natural landscapes within which they are situated, including wildlife. We recognise that anyone and landscapes and all wildlife are at risk of safeguarding issues and abuse. Therefore as artists, we want to use our power and voice to call this out.

Our safeguarding code can be read here.

Our safeguarding commitments

SAFETY: We will create environments in which everyone feels safe and respected and included.

EQUALITY: We will treat everyone equally, with respect and dignity, a standard everyone working with us will be expected to follow.

OPENNESS: Our spaces will encourage openness so that if anyone feels unsafe or has a safeguarding concern they feel that they can come to any member of outside it is beautiful and our partners to report their concerns without fear of discrimination or neglect.

RESPONSIBILITY: We will treat any concern with seriousness and sensitivity and all procedures and processes will be carefully explained.

We have a transparent process of reporting should issues arise. These can be read in our safeguarding policy  here.

How we facilitate our safeguarding approaches:
outside it is beautiful's safeguarding policy has been developed through a range of guidances. We recognise that being a new small group of freelancers and that through our work both in the research and development processes, which includes public drop-in workshops and through the implementation of the project itself, we might work unexpectedly with vulnerable adults and young children. We therefore have the responsibility to ensure that we recognise  how our behaviours can have an impact on such participants.

We recognise the duty to protect the rights of children, young people and adults at risk and to comply with the principles enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (1990), the Children Act (1989) and other relevant legislation.
At all times, care is taken to work with creative professionals who are experienced at working with such particular groups. Where this is not possible, advice will be taken from the relevant organisations as to the attitudes, behaviours and methodologies of working which should be modelled with such groups.
